When you add a center and choose your state and license type, ComplyNest automatically loads a compliance task template. This template gives you a pre-built checklist of common requirements to get you started faster than building from scratch.

How Templates Vary by State

Each state has different licensing rules, and even within a state, requirements can differ by program type (infant care vs. school-age, for example). ComplyNest's templates reflect common requirements for each combination but are not exhaustive — requirements can change and vary by locality.

What Templates Generate

A template creates a set of compliance tasks in your Licensing section, each with a suggested due date, a description of what is needed, and an optional evidence field. You can edit, delete, or mark any template-generated task just like a custom one.

Adding Custom Tasks

If your licensing office requires something not covered by the template, you can add a custom task at any time. Custom tasks work identically to template tasks and count toward your readiness score.

State templates are updated periodically, but they are a starting point — not a legal compliance guarantee. Confirm your current requirements directly with your state licensing agency.
