When a classroom's current staff-to-child ratio is outside the required range, ComplyNest triggers an alert. Understanding how these alerts work helps you act quickly before a ratio issue becomes a compliance problem.

How the Required Ratio Is Set

When you create a classroom and set its age group, ComplyNest applies the required ratio for that age group based on your state settings. You can view and adjust the required ratio for each classroom in the classroom settings.

Warning vs. Violation

  • Warning (amber) — the ratio is approaching the maximum allowed. This gives you a heads-up to add staff or adjust the room before a violation occurs.
  • Violation (red) — the current ratio exceeds the maximum allowed. This requires immediate action.

Where Alerts Appear

Ratio alerts appear on the main dashboard in the Ratio Compliance widget, on the Ratio Monitoring page next to each classroom name, and as in-app notifications for Owners and Admins. You can also set up email notifications for violations in your notification settings.

ComplyNest's ratio alerts are based on the roster data you enter. They do not reflect actual attendance in real time. Confirm current counts by checking with classroom staff, especially during transitions.
