CPR and First Aid certifications are required for most childcare staff and typically expire every two years. ComplyNest tracks each staff member's certification individually so you never discover an expiration only when an inspector points it out.

How 'Expiring Soon' Works

ComplyNest flags any credential as Expiring Soon when it is within 60 days of its expiration date. The credential record changes to an amber status, and the staff member's name appears in the Expiring Credentials widget on the dashboard.

Alerts You Receive

  • Dashboard badge showing the number of credentials expiring within 60 days
  • In-app notification at 60 days and again at 14 days before expiration
  • Email notification to the account Owner and Admins at 14 days before expiration

Updating a Certificate After Renewal

  1. Go to the staff member's profile → Credentials tab.
  2. Open the CPR or First Aid credential record.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update the expiration date to the new certificate's expiration.
  5. Upload the renewed certificate.
  6. Click Save.
State requirements for CPR and First Aid vary. Some require pediatric-specific certifications, and some require a certain number of staff per classroom to be certified at all times. Confirm your specific requirements with your licensing office.
