Fire drills are required at specific intervals in virtually every state. Logging each drill in ComplyNest creates a permanent record you can show an inspector immediately without searching through physical binders.
How to Log a Fire Drill
- Go to Safety & Inspections → Fire & Emergency.
- Open the fire drill task for the current period.
- Click Complete Task.
- Enter the date and time the drill was conducted.
- Record the total evacuation time.
- Note the number of children and staff who participated.
- Add any notes (for example, a blocked exit discovered during the drill).
- Upload any supporting documentation if required.
- Click Save.
Evidence Tips
- Some states require a signed drill log — upload a scanned copy.
- Photos of the evacuation assembly area can be helpful supplemental evidence.
- If a drill revealed a hazard, note the corrective action taken and the date it was resolved.
Most states require fire drills at a specific minimum frequency (for example, monthly or quarterly). Check your state's requirements and set your task recurrence accordingly.
